Where do you ship to?

To Italy and to every country in the European Union. Within the Union there are no customs formalities and no duties: the price you see at checkout is the price you pay, VAT included.

How much does shipping cost?

It depends on weight and destination, and it is calculated automatically at checkout, before you confirm the order. No surprises afterwards.

How long does delivery take?

We prepare and dispatch within 1-2 working days of payment. From there, roughly 24-48 hours in Italy and 3-6 working days elsewhere in the European Union. Islands and remote areas take a few days longer. Every shipment has its own tracking number.

How should extra virgin olive oil be stored?

Away from light and heat, at room temperature, away from strong smells. Never in the fridge, never next to the hob. Close the bottle tightly after use: oxygen is the third enemy, after light and heat.

What is Rotondella?

It is the olive variety typical of the Salerno hills, in the Cilento. Our Pietrangelo is single cultivar: made from this olive alone, with no blending of other varieties.

What does «cold pressed» mean?

It means the olive paste is not heated during extraction. Heating it would release more oil and do it faster, but it would burn off exactly the aromas that make an extra virgin different from any other oil: the green fruit, the artichoke, the almond.

How are your olives harvested?

By hand, one by one, on the hills of Bellosguardo in the province of Salerno, above 400 metres, inside the Cilento National Park. It is the slowest method and the only one that does not bruise the fruit.

Can I change my mind after buying?

Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to withdraw, without giving a reason. It applies to products returned still sealed: once opened, a food container cannot be taken back for reasons of hygiene. Return costs are yours; the refund arrives within 14 days.

What if the parcel arrives damaged?

Accept the delivery with a written reservation on the carrier’s document, photograph the packaging and the contents, and write to us within 24 hours at info@tenutecatena.com with the photos. We replace the product or refund you in full, at our expense. This is different from withdrawal: here you pay nothing.

Is payment secure?

The site uses an encrypted connection on every page. Your card details never pass through our servers and we do not store them: they are handled directly by the payment provider, which is certified to do so.

Who are you?

A family farm in Bellosguardo, in the Cilento, southern Italy. The name comes from our great-grandfather Pietrangelo’s nickname: in the village they called him «Catena» — Italian for «chain» — after the gold-chained pocket watch he always carried. The mark carries the date 1820.

Do you issue invoices?

Yes. Enter your company details and VAT number at checkout and you will receive an invoice. Note that the right of withdrawal belongs to consumers only, not to those buying with a VAT number in the course of a business.
